The SoundScreen 980A Office Sound Masking is the most popular of all sound generators. The SoundScreen 980A produces a real fan-like white noise sound that most people find quite pleasing. The SoundScreen 980A Office Sound Masking produces its sound with an actual motor so the sound produced is a "real" sound and not electronically reproduced. The SoundScreen 980A has been around for a long time and is the most popular of all white noise generators.

The SoundScreen 980A Office Sound Masking does not loop (loop means - to play a short segment of sound over and over) like most other models. Getting a machine that doesn't loop is really important. If you can detect a repetitive quality in the sound (such as a chirp that repeats over and over every 5 seconds), then that can be as annoying as the sound you are trying to mask. Again, the SoundScreen 980A is one of the few machines on the market that doesn't loop.

The SoundScreen 980A does not have a volume control but has a two speed switch that allows you to choose between a high speed medium volume setting and a softer low speed setting.

Plugs into a standard 110-120 volt outlet. Does not run on batteries.
