Carbon Block Resin Media

The Carbon Block Resin (CBR) cartridge (10CB.5R) consists of a premium carbon material that is powdered, mixed with a special resin that removes heavy metals, then extruded into a solid carbon block that will not permit the passage of over 99% of particles larger than .5 micron.

In the unlikely event that any heavy metals make it through the cartridge containing the KDF®55 that precedes it, this media contains a resin that will adsorb them, thereby providing back up. Most importantly, it adsorbs a variety of organic contaminants including compounds that create tastes and odors in water, as well as insecticides, herbicides, pesticides, and other volatile organic chemicals (VOC's).

The difference between filtering water through regular granular activated carbon filters (GAC) vs. carbon block resin (CBR) media is like the difference between passing water through sawdust vs. a solid block of wood. All water makes contact with the carbon instead of channeling through the media. Pore sizes are so small that 99.95% of dangerous cysts and most bacteria cannot make it through. In Living Waters Systems™, this premium CBR media becomes a backup to the first stage which likewise does not permit the passage of cysts and kills bacteria - thereby acting as an important layer of back-up against disease causing organisms.

The result is that treated water is as safe from biological contaminants as RO, and cannot support their subsequent growth. Of further benefit, 10H.35/KDF® pretreatment also causes the CBR media to last well over twice as long, thereby making Living Waters™ Filtration Systes among the most economical to maintain.
