The Blueair 501 is an extremely high quality Swedish air purifier that is now available in the U.S. A really high quality air purifier should have outstanding filtration efficiency, room size capacity, be extremely quiet, and be built to last a long, long time.

HEPASILENT FILTRATION TECHNOLOGY / NOISE LEVEL

Performance is the most important factor in selecting an air purifier. But typical air purifiers are extremely noisy and therefore hard to live with. Blueair achieves both performance and extreme quiet because of its HEPASilent Filtration Technology.

The HEPASilent system works by electro-statically charging particles as they enter the unit. This means that by charging the particles and using a special filter material, the filter can capture more contaminants with less air pressure. The result is that the motor doesn?t have to work as hard to pass air through the filters and this means that the unit is extremely quiet.

The end result is that the Blueair 501 is so quiet that on the first two speeds many people are unaware that it?s running!

This technology also makes for a unit that is extremely energy efficient. Even on its highest speed the Blueair 501 uses less energy than a 70-watt light bulb! And on low speed where it will operate most of the time, energy use is less than a 15-watt bulb.

QUALITY

Outstanding quality is no accident. Every component is selected to be the very best. The cheap motors used in typical air purifiers are generally made in China and are noisy and of lower quality. Blueair uses a specially designed motor that is made in Germany for nearly silent operation and many, many years of trouble free service. There is even a special sound insulating motor mounting system to further reduce audible sound.

FILTERS

There are three filters in the unit, which can be changed in seconds. There is no disassembly or tools required. You simply open the unit, slide the soiled filters out and replace them. The filters are hydrophobic so they can not support mold growth. There are also special SmokeStop filters available for odor control and these have been very popular in areas where smokers or other objectionable odors are present.

OTHER POINTS

Clean air is so important to Blueair that even the finish on the unit is powder coated so no paint off gassing can occur. And, absolutely no ozone is generated by these units. In fact, ozone levels are reduced in rooms where Blueair purifiers are operating!

The Blueair 501 has four speeds. On the first two speeds, it is virtually inaudible. On the third and fourth speeds you will hear the unit operating. However, the way the unit is designed to work is that you set it on the higher speed settings for only an hour when it is first turned on. This provides for accelerated air exchanges to quickly reduce indoor pollutants. The unit is then set to one of the lower settings to provide continuous, practically silent filtration of the room air.

WARRANTY

The Blueair 501 also includes a ten-year limited warranty on all components except filters, which covers everything except misuse.
